SUNDAY DECEMBER 30th 2012

I feel New Years is a time when I'm desperately trying to plan a spectacular night only to be disappointed. Well, the one thing I am never disappointed in is my attire. Feather skirts, dresses, boleros, accessories, etc is my new obsession and inspiration for ringing in 2013. With a hint of 1920's glam and a bit of theatrical whim thrown in, these photos will be sure to bring the party to you.
Happy New Years to everyone!

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 25th 2012

Peplums are everywhere right now! Runway, Retail and seen on the streets. Dress it up with a pencil skirt, or dress it down with some dark indigo washed denim. Anyway you swing it, this silhouette is perfect for girls like me. Emphasizing the smaller waist and hiding the hips. Hope this silo sticks around for a while.

Love, Love, Love L.A! The weather was amazing, and shopping was just a good.
I managed to make it to all my shopping hotspots including: Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Robertson, 3rd and The Grove. Please see my shopping map which highlights stores you can't find just anywhere. Should be posting it soon, promise!

SUNDAY OCTOBER 7th 2012

Finally sat down and did some sketching. Haven't done this in a while, but the weather seemed so sweater appropriate, all I wanted to do is put one on and make myself a hot cup of apple cider.
FYI, this is dedicated to all those knitting nerds out there. One I can think of in particular who goes by the name Ms. Frank.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 5th 2012

The Dead Ships!
As mentioned in my previous post, they were one of the opening bands for Two Gallants, and were an amazing find. Their 50's flare mixed with new age made for an interesting sound. This is a band I'll be sure to follow!
P.S. Devlin thanks for not ripping your shirt off at the end of your set.

THURSDAY OCTOBER 4th 2012

Ceiling view at Cactus Club
Loved this Venue! Definitely checking out their lineup.
Little mummy hand stamp for the night. (And yes, Juan thinks he can be a hand model.)
The Dead Ships. First band to open, and they were amazing, please check for them on my "music to my ears" section, which should be posted shortly.
And Two Gallants, better than I imagined. I would love to see them again. Great Tuesday night out, but it kicked my ass the next day at work, well worth it.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 29th 2012

Murder by Death, I know, the name sounds like a heavy metal band, not true. The lead singer has an amazing voice, much resembling Johnny Cash. Juan and I saw them perform 2 years ago at Frankies in Toledo and they were great. Full band including cello player and trumpeter made for an entertaining night.
Would recommend them to anyone! Please listen and pass it along.

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 28th 2012

Beirut! I know this band has been around since 2006, but had to list them. Now anyone who knows me knows that one of my biggest pet peeves is overly "artsy" artists. This one is borderline, but I will make an exception. Can't help it, they're just that good.

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 27th 2012

Going to Chicago this weekend! Hoping to make it to this event, we will see, I have a jammed packed schedule.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 22nd 2012

Sushi Night!
Juan and I decided to treat ourselves last Thursday night. I got the usual vege tempura, and he selected the dragon sushi rolls. Note that the "eye" is a big sphere of wasabi. The waiter mentioned not eating it all at once. What a great suggestion, haha. Also, although we didn't test it out, we thought the call button at the booth was pretty cool. Oh and the bottom fortune cookie was mine. 90 days at my new job, hopefully this is true! Loving it here in the big WI.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 16th 2012

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 15th 2012

Blind Pilot! Discovered them on my own (get most of my new playlist goodies from my husband) and sadly miss their Milwaukee appearance at the Pabst Theatre. Hopefully I'll catch them the next time around! Don't know much about these guys (and gal), but they do an amazing version of "Miss Ohio." Please check them out, the more I listen, the more I like.

Designer Watch: Clover Canyon

A friend sent me a link to Clover Canyon and I was immediately obsessed with their use of prints. Not only is the print itself an incredible work of art, but the positioning compliments the silhouettes so effortlessly. Oh, and I do want to mention their amazing commitment to being "Made in California." In an industry where the majority of products are made overseas, this company just keeps exceeding all expectations.
Look for Clover Canyon on big name online retailers such as:

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 8th 2012

Bergdorf Goodman 111 years!
This company starts as any great American story with an immigrant from France. The original owner, Herman Bergdorf, started a tailor shop in downtown Manhattan. So where did the name Goodman come from? An apprentice by the name of Edwin Goodman invested in the company and eventually became the sole owner and operator of Bergdorf Goodman.
After a bit of moving around Manhattan, the Uptown store (and present location) was established in 1928.
Goodman, being a savvy businessman, was worried about the state of the economy and unsure if his clients would follow him to this new location. To address the issue of what he thought may be a challenging business location, he designed the store to accommodate for multiple storefronts. These spaces were rented out to various companies, but during the great depression Bergdorf Goodman thrived and eventually owned the entire block.
Next time you're in NYC take a visit!

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 4th 2012

Too many bangles to count!
I love this new graphic tee. The "Endless Nights" graphic is placed over the classic Breton stripe for a more updated tee look. I purchased this at H&M while searching for that easy and comfy tee to wear with my cut off shorts. The material is a bit clingy so I sized up about 4 sizes so it would have that "oversized" appearance and could be worn off the shoulder. Super cute and only $14.95. All bracelets were purchased at H&M or Forever 21. I don't like paying big $$ for things I am always losing!

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 3rd 2012

Designer Watch: Humbert and Lo

Love, Love, Love this designer!!!! The above collection is actually her debut collection, so I will keep you posted on where to purchase these great pieces. I am extremely impressed by the fact that A.J. Woodruff (owner/designer,) has done an amazing job at creating a line that has a vintage vibe, but still is so relevant.
"My goal is to present the past and its influence on the present. I want the wearer to experience time-its technique and color, it's texture, its feel. There will always be a sense of romance in my work...always a sense of nostalgia. I am always nostalgic for something, although, I don't always know what it is."
~A.J. Woodruff
